I Think I’ll Sled to Work Today…

Why a sled? It may be slow, given the lack of hills. But it would be a whole lot less dangerous.

Now, what could be dangerous about my half-mile jaunt to work everyday? One word. Ice.

Ice received a cool rap with “Ice, Ice, Baby,” but obviously Vanilla Ice did not live in the Midwest.

Yesterday, I fell on the ice, not once, but twice.

The first time, I was crossing the street after lunch. I was almost across the street when, wham, I fell right on top of my right hip and wrist.

The pros:
-I didn’t get run over by a car.
-I would be going to the chiropractor later.
-It wasn’t the coldest day of the year (but pretty close).

The cons:
-I had a captive audience in the car.
-It hurt.

I had a great trip to the chiropractor and managed to not fall coming or going. However, when I was walking home from work. I did it again. This time, I fell exactly the same on my left side.

The pros:
-I didn’t fall on the street this time.
-I fell on my left side, making me ambidextrously in pain.
-I didn’t have an audience (that I was aware of).

The cons:
-I had already been to the chiropractor.
-It still hurt.

I later discovered that I had almost zero traction on my boots. In case you were wondering, there is a moral to this story:

My sole

My sole was in a very sorry state.

Never forget to examine the state of your soles.
